The Beginning

I first noticed Maya in 2017 through a friend’s social media. She was on holiday, and something about her photos caught my attention. I sent her a message on a whim. At first, I did not think much would come of it, but soon we were talking constantly. Texting all day, messaging late into the night, every chance we got we would meet. The first time I saw her in person, I just knew. There was something in her eyes, the way her smile seemed to light up the room, and how she could make anyone feel at ease. On September 3rd that year, I asked her to be my girlfriend. Simple, but it felt like the start of everything.

A Love That Feels Natural

Being with Maya was easy in the best way. We laughed, we argued a little, we talked for hours, and sometimes we would just sit together quietly and feel like nothing else mattered. Being apart felt strange, being together felt right.Over the years, through all the big moves, life changes, and the little everyday ups and downs, our love just kept growing. It never felt forced or complicated. Being with her became a kind of rhythm I did not even notice at first, comforting, familiar, and yet still full of excitement. We were partners, best friends, and soulmates all at the same time.

Planning the Trip

By the end of 2024, after buying our first home and settling into our little life together, we finally booked a trip to New York. It had always been Maya’s dream, and I could not wait to see the wonder in her eyes as we explored the city she had been talking about for years.The moment I hit the book, I knew what had to happen. We arrived in the city in early October. October 3rd was special because the number three has always meant something to us. We became a couple on September 3rd. My birthday is December 3rd. Now this date would mark something even bigger.

The Proposal

We had tickets to the Empire State Building that evening. The city lights stretched out beneath us. I had the ring in my pocket, a 3-carat radiant cut, exactly what Maya had always dreamed of, and a nod to the number three that has followed us throughout our story. Seeing her face as I knelt, watching the surprise and joy in her eyes, I felt a rush I cannot put into words. It was perfect, magical, and real all at once.

The ring was not just a piece of jewellery. It was her dreams, our milestones, the little jokes we shared, the quiet moments, and the big ones, all captured in one piece. Now, with a Polish-English wedding coming up, we cannot wait to start the next chapter. That ring will always remind us of where we began, the journey we have shared, and the life still ahead. It is more than a ring. It is our story.
